steel cut oats with seckel pear, rosemary and walnuts

There is no better heart-healthy way to beat the chilliness of a January morning than with a thick bowl of oatmeal. This recipe adds a winter friendly fruit, the seckel pear, with earthy rosemary and crunchy walnuts to create a sensational and healthy treat that will set your early morning gears in motion! This recipe yields 4 servings.

Ingredients:
1 cup steel cut oatmeal
2 tsp honey
4 seckel pears
1/2 cup walnuts, toasted and chopped
2 tsp rosemary
Sea salt

Bring 4 cups of water to a brisk boil. Sprinkle 1 cup of steel cut Irish oats into the water, stirring well. When the mixture begins to develop a slightly gooey consistency, bring it down to a simmer and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon the porridge into four separate bowls.

Peel and chop the pear. Drizzle the honey over each bowl of porridge. Sprinkle with sea salt, pear pieces, walnuts and rosemary. Serve immediately.
